Blue Roundabout insufficient Warning.

Reported via desktop in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 21:01, Sun 16 October 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3893864.

The only warning of the approach of a roundabout at this junction is the large blue roundabout sign, at the end of the slipway, close to the roundabout. This sign can be obscured by lorries, for drivers using lane 2. Additional warning signs, like red triangle with roundabout, both sides of the slipway, long before the roundabout would be helpful.

Updates

  • Dear Sir or Madam

Thank you for contacting us by Fix My Street on 16 October about issues with signage near junction 35 of the A1(M).

It appears the existing directional sign at the top of the slip road could be relocated to help visibility so we’ll look to address this next time the sign is renewed. Additional signage would likely not be explored as the junction is within current standards and we’re unaware of a collision problem at this location. We aim to keep junctions clearly signed but free from “clutter”. I assure you we’ll continue to monitor the performance of the route in terms of safety and congestion.

Thank you again for contacting us. If there is anything we can help you with, please email or telephone our Contact Centre. They’re available 24 hours a day by phone: 0300 123 5000 or by email info@nationalhighways.co.uk. Alternatively, please visit the National Highways website at nationalhighways.co.uk.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
