Updates

  • Thank you for contacting us regarding the damage caused by a road traffic accident recently on the A628.

We need to repair steel VRS and also the masonry bridge parapet following the accident which has damaged our assets on both sides of the road.

We have already deployed temporary signals to control traffic over the bridge as the stone parapet is no longer providing the required level of containment for a national speed limit road.

Going forward, we will look to arrange for a permanent repair to the parapet, but as this will require a stonemason it is unlikely that we will be able to implement that work in the short term. In the interim we are looking into getting “queues ahead” signs deployed and then provide temporary vehicle barrier in front of the damaged section – the latter would enable us to reopen a lane in each direction, however these would be narrow and therefore a temporary 40mph speed limit would be required.

Thank you again for contacting us and your patience whilst we arrange for repairs.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
