Flooding in underpass

Reported via mobile in the Flooding/drainage (NH) category anonymously at 16:28, Thu 13 October 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3888186.

Please could I report that the underpass under the A27 for the footpath between Washington Road and Emsworth Recreation ground floods very time it rains. This is a walk to school route, encouraged by both Emsworth Primary School and St James Primary School. Parents and children use it daily. It’s also a particularly unpleasant and dark underpass with lots of graffiti - I feel very uncomfortable using it, especially in the winter months. More could be done for womens safety as this is a walk to school route. Please could you address the flooding issue and maintain it to a higher standard.

Many thanks, Clare

Our inspector visited the location on 18 October and has cleared the channels to mitigation the flooding seen.

A works order has been raised for the graffiti to be removed, though we can't offer a date at this time as this is a non safety issue.

Lighting to the underpass is working.
