On the M42 coming towards Solihull from Bromsgrove where there are roadworks there are a series of 50mph speed limit signs which traffic was keeping to. A little while in there was a national speed limit sign displayed above the motorway on a variable speed limit screen which was then shortly followed by another 50mph sign. This is confusing and caused me to speed up and then immediately slow down which was both dangerous and made me worry that I may have inadvertently been going over the 50mph speed limit due to incorrect signage.

Faulty speed limit signs on M1 northbound before the junction with the M62. Showing no speed limit, the middle sign was flickering a partial red circle but nothing else.
