M65 road signs are obscured by vegetation

Reported via desktop in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 16:37, Fri 7 October 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3875361.

Nearly all the road signs on the M65 are obscured by vegetation to some degree. The Traffic Signs manual requires that road signs are maintained to ensure that the time available for a driver to read its message, taking account of the speed at which they are travelling, is sufficient to allow safe driving. Many signs are illegible until you are almost level with them.

  • The issue is NOT CLOSED. You need to give me an indication as WHEN that safety check will be carried out. Until that check is performed and the visibility of signage improved to comply with the Traffic Signs manual, they remain a hazard to drivers. Unless this corrective action is performed swiftly, I will undertake a drive along the length of the M65 in both directions and film the signage. The resulting video will be made available online to ensure everyone is aware of your failure to maintain the M65 in a safe condition.
