Reported via mobile in the Roadworks (NH) category anonymously at 08:57, Thu 6 October 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3871586.

TM scattered everywhere, TM area too long for working area, green time too short on each approach (too much lost time), queues in excess of 2 miles, noone working!!!! Aldo complucated by abnornal loads moving during peak hours. What management there is on A31 is poor.

Updates

  • Same issue - delayed for over 45 minutes westbound. Traffic lights spaced around 20 metres apart with no evidence of work having started. No equipment present. Lights change so rapidly they only allow three or four vehicles through at a time.

  • Thank you for your report concerning road management on the A31.

These traffic lights were implemented as an emergency measure as we identified a BT manhole cover as posing a safety risk to road users. We apologise for the disruption they have caused. I can confirm that we're coordinating with BT to finish emergency repairs this afternoon (13 October 2022), and will be able to fully reopen the road once it has been made safe.

We appreciate your patience and understanding whilst we deal with our emergency safety repairs.
