Verges growing over path
Reported via mobile in the Pavement/footpath/cycleway/bridleway issue (NH) category anonymously at 11:01, Thu 29 September 2022
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3856651.
The verges are being left to grow over the path along the A5 (up from Wolvey Road to Sketchley ind estate).
This pushes pedestrians and cyclists ever closer to the road. Photo 1 shows the path boundary circled in blue and the extent of the problem.
The hedges and trees are also now growing over the paths. This is in turn pushes cyclists on to a very dangerous road. What was the point of spending millions on putting a path and cycle path here if it’s not maintained?
Our family and young children use this path and gets more perilous every time we do. It would be so amazing if we could walk along here and feel safe at the same time.

You can’t expect the bone idle workers at National highways to get a shovel and broom out to rectify this! That would mean working up a sweat, and actually getting out of their van. There’s the paper to read, tea to drink, rubbish to be randomly dumped, there’s no time left in the day to actually do any work!
