Status unknown
Slight depression on the carriageway. Westbound, A512 on the M1 J23 bridge, Towards the centre of Lane 1, in line with Lamp Col 19
Reported via desktop in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 10:14, Tue 27 September 2022
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3851401.
The reason we are reporting it, is because it is unusual for a depression to be occurring at this spot. Underneath the tarmac is a steel enforced concrete structure, expansion joints, drainage or electricity ducts, one would expect tarmac to be pushed upwards never downwards in such a setting. Tarmac going downwards suggested there may be an issue with something underneath.

Near Junction/exit 23 southbound on M1 we ran over a metallic bumper which caught under the car and almost caused us to crash. We managed to stop quickly and safely enough to pull it out from under. I tried to remove it from harm’s way - it’s in the hatched lines where the lanes divide off.
