A585 / West Drive DEAD HIPPO

Reported via desktop in the Dead animals (NH) category anonymously at 15:11, Mon 26 September 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3849928.

There, that got your attention. Although to be fair, i'd expect some sort of algorithm/artificial intelligence has reported to you that these traffic lights at this location need sorting, (as i've been a busy boy today) and have done since early 2021. Its now Sept 2022. Just saying.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report concerning traffic signals. we decided to re-design the junction’s traffic lights system. We currently have a MOVA (Microprocessor Optimised Vehicle Actuation) system in place. The original installation included Magnetometers that detected the vehicles. Sensors like this however have proved not to be very robust in these situations. Therefore, we investigated the potential of using more appropriate technology, and specifically an above ground detection system. The outcome of our assessment was that an above-ground detector system would be suitable. We now have a full design and we're planning the installation for November 2022. Following commissioning, this should better support the MOVA system resulting in a more efficient traffic flow at the junction. Kind regards
