Roadworks not reported to Google maps

Reported via mobile in the Roadworks (NH) category anonymously at 16:06, Sat 10 September 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3816163.

Traffic utter chaos due to roadworks. Would surely be better if the planned closure was showing on Google maps. I have tried to inform Google myself but the map has not updated to show the closure.

I have children with football games, we work full time so need to be able to get out of our road at weekends!!! This cannot happen for a month!!! We cant

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about the delays caused by our closure of the southbound carriageway of M6 motorway at junction 33 on the weekend of 11 September. We understand motorists were caught in traffic for a significant period of time and we’re sincerely sorry for this.

We’ve taken onboard recent feedback and plan to do things differently. The new schedule of works will be carried out using lane closures for four weeks starting on Sunday October 2, which will ensure the motorway remains open during the daytime providing a safe environment for both workers and road users.

During the daytime, we will establish lane closures and run two narrow lanes of traffic past the work area to keep customers moving, removing the need for the full weekend closures, which were previously planned. Once the programme has been finalised with our contractors, we will advertise full details via our website, a press release and social media.

If you would like a more detailed response on this matter, please contact our 24hr Customer Contact Centre
