Reported via desktop in the Flooding/drainage (NH) category anonymously at 10:04, Sat 10 September 2022
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3815535.
There was a very large puddle which covered almost the entire width of the layny at this point and looks like it could result in aquaplanning or loss of controlLayby drainage

Thank you for contacting National Highways about the flooding you’ve noticed on the entrance to the layby on the A47 when travelling eastbound, past North Burlingham.
This is a recognised flood location for which we’re in the process of designing a solution. In the meantime, we keep a record of every time it floods and put signs in place to warn drivers. However, there is also a major scheme planned to start between January and March next year. This involves upgrading the A47 between Blofield and North Burlingham to a dual carriageway. It will change the road layout near the layby, so depending on the number and severity of flooding events we experience in the meantime, may make our plans unnecessary.
Thank you again for your report.
Kind regards
National Highways
