Litter is absolutely disgusting from junction 41 all the way to 36 can't even see the grass!

Reported via mobile in the Litter (NH) category anonymously at 20:08, Sat 3 September 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3800568.

Tonnes and tonnes of litter spread across all the verges between junctions 41 and 36, can't say you do it every 6 months because the same litter is visible on Google maps from 10+ months ago

  • Dear Sir or Madam

Thank you for contacting us by Fix My Street on 8 September 2022 about litter on the A1 (M) between junctions 41 and 36.

Litter picking is a planned cyclic activity. Litter picking has been undertaken throughout this location in June, however we'll review the level of litter on site and take additional action where required.

Thank you again for contacting us. If there is anything we can help you with, please email or telephone our Contact Centre. They’re available 24 hours a day by phone: 0300 123 5000 or by email info@nationalhighways.co.uk. Alternatively, please visit the National Highways website at nationalhighways.co.uk.

  • National Highways will unfortunately send you just one of their many automated bull**** responses claiming to have done something when of course they haven't. I drive the length of the country day and night, and the amount of litter everywhere is disgusting. I have only ever seen one worker out litter picking, yes one worker. That's how seriously they take this issue. They claim to have someone out litter picking somewhere throughout their road network everyday, but we all know this is a total lie. Instead National Highways continue to allow their workers to dump numerous amounts of road work paraphernalia throughout the network. So instead of picking it up they are actually adding to the litter. They are a massive part of this issue and a major reason why the network is in such a state.
