Road markings not clear enough

Reported via mobile in the Road markings (NH) category anonymously at 14:06, Mon 22 August 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3772555.

On the A31 approach to Palmerston roundabout in Ferndown, the road markings are quite feint, it states the A31 for both lanes, and the A347 for the left hand lane, but I have noticed on a few occasions, drivers going to the A347 from the right hand lane, when I have been in the left hand lane and going right on the roundabout, I feel there should be a sign showing what the two lanes can be used for.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report concerning road markings on Palmerston Roundabout.

Currently the lane markings provided are accurate, and according to the Highway Code, lane should be for the first exit and lane 2 for the second. Alternative use of these lanes is both against the Highway Code and violating the current lane markings, and should be reported to the Police rather than National Highways, as we aren't an enforcement agency.

We will review the area to assess if it needs repainting.
