40MPH Temporary signage

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3766131.

Can you please explain why there are miles of the A 12 with a 40MPH limit when no evidence of any road works at all. I understand there are night road closures but this speed limit is in fact causing hold ups rather than preventing

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding the 40pmh speed limit on the A12. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

    The 40mph speed limit is also in place because of the narrow lanes and temporary barrier in the central reservation. Additionally, to remove the traffic management and replace it again overnight would take time away from doing the work, extend the overall programme and lead to increased costs.
