Smart motorway signs wrong
Reported via mobile in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 09:55, Wed 17 August 2022
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3760309.
The smart signage on the motorway says there are two lanes closed for a stranded vehicle. This is causing a massive tail back for thousands of people . And there is no stranded vehicle. This is why nobody believes smart motorway signs. It's taken me 20 minutes to get through that congestion for no good reason.

Nothing unusual here, they do it time and time again. I’m convinced they sit in the control room, and deliberately see how much congestion they can cause. Only the other day on the M25, they had the red crosses flashing on three lanes. The mayhem it caused as everyone bunched into one lane was unbelievable. No accident, no breakdown, nothing.

Driving northbound on M6 nearing Junction 15 on Friday evening (19th August). The signs were advising that lanes 1,2 and 3 were closing due to Workforce in Road. A 40mph limit was imposed. All traffic had to move into lane 4 this causing long tailback. Suddenly, just before the junction all instructions disappeared and there was no such roadworks. Caused quite a delay, plus the danger of many vehicles pushing in from the nearside for no reason.

M60 report of Pedestrians. Not a single pedestrian in sight for miles. Causing cars to slam on brakes on a Motorway because they come to a pointless advisory sign is extremely dangerous.

They just play with the network. Nothing better to do. I would sack them all if I was in charge.
