Insufficient diversion signage

Reported via desktop in the Roadworks (NH) category anonymously at 22:41, Tue 16 August 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3759604.

No signs on M5 approach to A38 indicating total road closer. The biggest issue however relates to the diversion signs for the A38 East. We went back and forward 3 times following ‘Diversion A38 E’ signs before giving up as they petered out leaving us in the middle of Chudleigh. It is possible we missed something but, given that we gave it 3 goes, the signs must have been obscure. This is really not good enough for a major road link to the SW.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways concerning the diversion.

We've spoken with our Traffic Management team who have confirmed that both the advanced signage and the diversion signage is implemented and checked every night as part of the closure for the scheme. All is installed and checked regularly in accordance with the agreed traffic management plans. The signage is also checked occasionally by our works supervisor.

Whilst we're confident that the information is correct, we've asked that particular attention is given again to the diversion route and for it to be actively driven and reviewed to ensure the continuity of the signage.

If you require any further information please contact our Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 5000 or info@nationalhighways.co.uk.

    Kind regards
