M23 J9 Southbound Slip Road

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 09:30, Mon 15 August 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3754157.

For the last 4 weeks, the traffic light phasing at the top of the off-ramp causes traffic tail-backs to onto the main carriageway because both slip road lanes are full. Very little on the roundabout passes the TLs, but today the timing for traffic on the roundabout was was 47secs, and traffic on the slip road was 25 seconds. So twice the timing for on-roundabout traffic with a volume of perhaps 5-10% of the on-sliproad traffic seems to exacerbate these problems. Today, the tail backs were between 0.5-0.75 long. This is highly dangerous with people stopping on the main carriageway occupying the slowest three lanes at peak times, leaving only the fast lane open - at approx 0800 in the morning.
