Speed Camera flashed me for doing 51 on a 50mph construction works

Reported via mobile in the Roadworks (NH) category anonymously at 00:32, Friday 5 August 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later

In this construction zone by Jct 24 M25 it stated 50mph, i was doing 51mph and suddenly a large flash came from behind me which i was rather confused about as i was doing the speed limit identified by signs on M25 unless the signs on top on M25 stated wrong as it said 50 was the speed limit. This has happened to me twice doing the correct speed limit within m25. First time was by Southend Arterial Road Slip doing 75mph, yet during the day doing exactly the same or slightly less than 75mph I have not been flashed by a camera, yet identified cars speeding past me going over 80/85mph not being flashed.

Updates

  • Not unusual. I was travelling on the M25, approaching junction 18. The overhead gantry lights were indicating 50mph, I went past doing 43mph, was flashed, sent a letter, fined, given 3 points. Obviously I argued my case, and surprise surprise, lost my case. Regarding warning signs on motorways, saw a brilliantly one the other day on the M3, it was the day of 40*, and the sign said….FOG!!! Total incompetence from National Highways
