Dropped drain hole on major road A27

Reported via mobile in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 22:44, Tue 2 August 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3726278.

By BN14 9HR (Charmadean Centre side ) Man Hole/cover has dropped lower than the road. Traffic is driving directly over. Lorries in particular are thundering over causing loud noise and vibration. Worse from 5.00 thru to 8.00 when traffic is speeding down road in rush hour. Thank you

Updates

  • Thank you for your report concerning a sunken manhole cover on the eastbound carriageway by Charmadean Lane.

We’re aware of this issue which was reported to Southern Water on 26 May as the cover is their asset to maintain.

Southern Water can be contacted at https://www.southernwater.co.uk/ help-advice/ contact-us to seek an update on progress or to report independently.

    Kind regards

    National Highways

  • Referring to Southern Water is an absolute cop out. Highways replaced and surfaced this stretch and reset these covers. Your repair has failed, not Southern Water’s
