M49 onto M5 southbound slip road closure no warning 25th/26th july

Reported via desktop in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 19:15, Tue 2 August 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3725911.

Hi there overnight Monday 25th was travelling down the M49 onto the M5 south only to notice it was closed but there was no notice until the very last moment which I could have gone via the M4 Almondsbury rather than have to detour right the way into Bristol city centre and back along the A369 way.

Any reason there was no advanced warning such as on the M4 coming from Wales?

Thanks

  • Thank you for your report concerning the motorway closure.

The M5 was not closed there was a live lane. This is why there was no need for any prior diversion to the entry slip as it just indicated to carry on, round the roundabout and back onto the M5.
