  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about lights not working on the A47 around Yarmouth Road.

The lights on the A47 here are sodium lanterns which are now obsolete. As such, we can no longer obtain the lamps when they reach the end of their lives, meaning we’re no longer able to maintain them.

We’re pleased to say we have plans to carry out a full upgrade of the lighting columns, cabling, and lanterns on the A47 in this area. As a temporary measure, we’ve sourced suitable LED lanterns that can be attached to the existing columns. This measure was previously delayed due to a global shortage of parts.

Before we can carry out work to fit the new lanterns, a structural test of the columns is required. This testing is likely to take place between September and October this year. Once we receive the results, we’ll schedule the programme to replace the lanterns.

Thank you again for your report.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
