Grass verge ownership
Reported via desktop in the Road markings (NH) category anonymously at 11:41, Fri 22 July 2022
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3698052.
DT362674 land registry documents state you are owners of the grass verges on this section of road. There is a motorhome permanently parked on the verge and on occasions other vehicles park behind it. This situation is causing access problems as parked vehicles reduce access to my property; please erect appropriate signage to inform vehicle owners of their legal obligations.

Highways Act… Where no waiting restrictions are present on the road, parking on a grass verge or pavement is not illegal. However, a driver may be open to prosecution if their vehicle is persistently damaging a verge, parked dangerously or causing an obstruction.

Thank you for your report concerning illegal parking of vehicles on the A31.
I can confirm that the area in question is currently correctly signed as a Clearway, which legally cannot be parked on or stopped in. Unfortunately, as we aren't an enforcement agency, we can't take any action regarding violations of the Clearway Order. We recommend that you report this issue to the local Police.
