Ridge across road potentially damaging vechicles

Reported via desktop in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 10:53, Fri 22 July 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3697860.

There is a 6 inch wide, elevated ridge across the carriageway which can't be avoided or easily seen and it gives the vehicles' suspension a sharp shock as they pass over it. It has been there for at least 3 months and is will be causing damage to vehicles.

Updates

  • This defect on the southbound carriageway has not been fixed and is now extending across to the northbound carriageway as well. There is now longer just the potential to cause damage to vehicles, my tyre was damaged to the point of needing replacing having hit the defect this week. The potential consequences of leaving this defect unrepaired extend well beyond the inconvenience of having to replace a damaged tyre.

  • This Ridge is huge and runs across the width of the carriage way. Drainage or Tunnel below for waterway. hitting this daily at 50 to 70 MPH is causing no end of damage to all vehicles. Motorcycles must really be at risk especially at nigh ! My Rear Nearside tyre was badly punctured luckily didn't result in an accident. AA Engineer said it was likely caused by Large fragment of tarmac or stone causing what he called a Shark Tooth impact puncture. this needs addresssing ASAP before someone is seriously hurt.

  • Issue STILL present. Driving a lowered car feels like you've hit a wall while driving at 70mph. Damage will be caused to vehicles.
