Bumps in road

Reported via desktop in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 12:55, Mon 18 July 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3684471.

I can see that this has been reported multiple times but receives the same standard response each time. This is something that can no longer wait until the end of financial year 2022/2023 as stated. These bumps are more like 'sleeping policemen' than slight road imperfections. Thanks to these I am now having to replace a windscreen due to a skip lorry hitting one and shedding some of its load. This needs to be fixed and it needs to be done NOW not in 10 months time. I will save this for when someone if seriously injured or killed on this stretch of road. Standing by for standard response!!!!

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about road surface on this section of the A2.

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch regarding this matter. I am very sorry to hear of the impact of poor road conditions and please be assured that we do understand and recognise your concerns.

As previously advised we’re aware of the issues of the road condition and there is a major resurfacing scheme planned anticipated for this October 2022 between Nackington and Bridge.

Recognising this issue, we have put out extra road signs indicating the uneven surfaces for road users for a 2 mile stretch. We've also put out temporary speed restriction signs along this stretch for the safety of road users.

In the meantime, we’ll continue to review weekly when any safety issues will be raised for urgent mitigation.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
