  • North bound a12 just after layby before Maldon Rd bridge.

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding a dead cat on the A12. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

We appreciate how distressing it can be for our customers to see animal remains lying by the side of the road. We routinely remove such remains when they are found in the live carriageway and always endeavour to repatriate pets if their owners can be identified through microchip implant technology.

Animal remains that lie further away from the carriageway itself are more difficult to routinely locate. Such carcasses are therefore only ordinarily removed if they present an ancillary hazard, or danger to public health.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
