Road markings, layout and traffic Control

Reported via mobile in the Road markings (NH) category anonymously at 18:28, Thu 30 June 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3637957.

The changes to the road markings when you are on the junction is causing significant queues coming off the M5 on the Portway 100 and coming from the docks. There are three lanes crossing the M5 in the direction of Bristol the first one is for the A369 and Services and the other 2 are towards the M5 South. The volume of traffic using the lane to the services and the A 369 is causing tailbacks with the other two lanes underutilised. In the past six months there has been a change to the road markings and lay out here which has contributed to the buildup of traffic.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways concerning junction 19 of the M5.

The new layout was developed in conjunction with North Somerset Council and was modelled to get the most efficient operation from the junction.

Together we've recently carried out a video survey to determine driver behaviours in the context of the new layout and if there's a requirement to make changes, we'll do so.

We're also working with our contractors to resolve some snagging issues with the signals prior to us taking them into our maintenance control.

If you require any further information please contact our Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 5000 or info@nationalhighways.co.uk.

    Kind regards
