Dangerous bumps in road
Reported via desktop in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 14:45, Mon 27 June 2022
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3627397.
There is a series of bumps in the road that cause violent movements in the car. This is especially concerning as the road sweeps to the left so the bumps can cause cars to veer off their turning line. Reducing speed only seems to make the effect of the issue worse. I can't imagine how dangerous it would feel riding a motorcycle at motorway speeds. Is only a matter of time before this causes a nasty accident. Plus it is a huge cost to us local drivers, who have to use the road daily, the damage to our vehicles has been noted several times.

Thank you for contacting National Highways about road surface on the A2 carriageway between Canterbury and Bridge.
Thank you for taking the time to get in touch regarding this matter. I am very sorry to hear of the impact of poor road conditions and please be assured that we do understand and recognise your concerns. We’re aware of the issues of the road condition along this stretch of the A2. This stretch is currently monitoring by our safety team since August 2021.
Recognising this issue, I can advise that a major scheme is currently under development which will involve full levelling and resurfacing between Nackington and Bridge and also along Lydden to Whitfield with anticipated construction in this financial year 2022/2023.
In the meantime, we’ll continue to review weekly when any safety issues will be raised for urgent mitigation.
Kind regards
National Highways
