Traffic lights out of sequence

Reported via mobile in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 07:08, Mon 27 June 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3625269.

The main traffic flow is on the A27 east west / west to East however the light sequencing supports heavier traffic flow from the a277. Only 4 or 5 cars are able to get through on a green light and this is causing significant tailbacks

  • The traffic lights here are not functioning properly for pedestrians or cyclists. Two problems:

    1. the 'green man' does not appear on the traffic lights for the east bound lane.

    2. pedestrians and cyclists are forced to wait sometimes over a minute to be able to cross on green on the westbound road. It needs to turn green on demand - otherwise someone is going to get killed because people haven't got the patience to wait that long!
