Series of raised bumps on A2 coast bound between Wincheap slip and Bridge slip

Series of bumps/ridges on road surface causing potential damage to vehicles and danger to motorcycles.

  • I drive Dian this Fuad regularly and the raised bumps on the southern carriageway are now becoming very dangerous particularly for motorbikes. I also feel this numerous raised areas could be extremely uncomfortable or worse for patients in ambulances but urge highways England to repair these ASAP

    Thank you for taking the time to get in touch regarding this matter. I am very sorry to hear of the impact of poor road conditions and please be assured that we do understand and recognise your concerns. We’re aware of the issues of the road condition along this stretch of the A2. This stretch is currently monitoring by our safety team since August 2021.

    Recognising this issue, I can advise that a major scheme is currently under development which will involve full levelling and resurfacing between Nackington and Bridge, with anticipated construction in this financial year 2022/2023.

    In the meantime, we’ll continue to review weekly when any safety issues will be raised for urgent mitigation.
