Dangerous bumps across entire carriageway
Reported via desktop in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 15:16, Sat 25 June 2022
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3622820.
The road surface appears to have sunk around concrete drains resulting in major bumps.
These are now so bad, there is a serious danger to motorcyclists. I now avoid that stretch on my bike.
Attempts have been made in the past to repair, but all they do is resurface, which sinks again.
Please fix it properly once a for all.

How long do you need to monitor this stretch of bumpy Road? It has been in the same state for as long as I can remember and I have been a resident of Bridge for 34 years!! I urge you to repair the road before it causes an accident.

Thank you for contacting National Highways about road surface on the A2 carriageway between Canterbury and Bridge.
Thank you for taking the time to get in touch regarding this matter. I am very sorry to hear of the impact of poor road conditions and please be assured that we do understand and recognise your concerns. We’re aware of the issues of the road condition along this stretch of the A2. This stretch is currently monitoring by our safety team since August 2021.
Recognising this issue, I can advise that a major scheme is currently under development which will involve full levelling and resurfacing between Nackington and Bridge and also along Lydden to Whitfield with anticipated construction in this financial year 2022/2023.
In the meantime, we’ll continue to review weekly when any safety issues will be raised for urgent mitigation.
Kind regards
National Highways
