Multiple road fractures/pot holes on right hand bend of M3 just past B3047 bridge , heading southbound

Reported via desktop in the Pothole (NH) category anonymously at 13:41, Tue 14 June 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3595857.

The left hand lane of the M3, around where the motorway goes under the B3047 bridge, has multiple potholes and fractures in the road. The surface has been deteriorating for a long while (1 year+) and other areas of the M3 which had similar problems have had those sections relaid, this has been missed but need urgent attention. When driving over this area of multiple potholes, car stability is compromised and causes the vehicle to swerve in lane as the tyres go over these potholes. This should be rectified ASAP and is a safety hazard to road users due to its effect on vehicles travelling at speed, especially on a motorway bend. The road surface is badly damaged with multiple fractures in the road in a highly concentrated area. Please ensure this section is re-laid at the soonest to remove the safety hazard and danger to motorists.

  • I can confirm that nothing was done to this defect in the road. I remember seeing the the Highways England team visiting the site the next day, as you've stated, but the multiple potholes still remain till this day and no repair or alteration was carried out. As stated in the original report, this has happened elsewhere on the M3, towards Jct. 11/12 and for those instances the road was resurfaced to remove the problem. The same issue is present here but it has not been rectified as those other ones were. No change to original state of road initially reported unfortunately.
