Traffic Lights dangerously mis-timed
Reported via mobile in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 15:52, Tue 7 June 2022
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3578479.
The lights are green for traffic coming from Hook / Basingstoke towards A287 or Basingstoke, causing a back-up of traffic on the roundabout that increases a risk of collision. The light is prioritising traffic from London M3 instead of the higher volume of traffic already backed up due to the lights not allowing enough traffic through. This has been an issue for several weeks. Traffic backs up to the point of blocking access into the M3 toward London and high speed traffic coming round from the A287 have to break suddenly to avoid a collision. Please restore priority to traffic on the roundabout instead of that coming off the M3 sliproad from London to stop the congestion on the roundabout. The traffic lights are just before the sliproad of M3 (from London direction), stopping traffic about to continue on the B3349 towards the A287 (Odiham direction). Their position is directly above the M3 lane towards Basingstoke. The first lights if coming from B3349 Hook onto the M3 J5 roundabout towards B3349 Odiham. Thank you.
