Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3572999.

Travelling on the A35 (West bound) along West Road there is a small crossroad where Quarr Lane and Eype Down Road join the A35. When approaching West bound you go round a tight left hand bend (local drivers usually approach with caution) as traffic access the A35 turning both West bound and East bound, and the vision for anyone exiting Eype Down Road is massively reduced. Today I came round the left hand bend and was confronted by a car exiting Eype Down Road turning East bound and at least 1/3 of the car was stopped on the West bound lane. There are currently signs when approaching West bound to advise of a crossroad and that the road narrows. Would you be able to consider additional signs that would advise motorists of emerging vehicles or something that you think may be more relevant. Thank you

Updates

  • A most unusual junction. Westbound traffic wishing to turn right on to the B3162 should give way to traffic exiting that road to go westwards. The only indication of this priority is a dotted and worn line on the road surface (often covered by the vehicle waiting ahead.) Thus vehicles frequently obstruct each other, meanwhile fast traffic is proceeding Eastwards with high chance of a crash. Several people have died in this way over several years. Perhaps a clear eye-level sign for motorists turning right into the B3163 may be a potential life saver ?
