The signage is set back up on the slip road

Reported via mobile in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 15:37, Tue 31 May 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3564458.

There used to be a sign for junction 8/9 in advance of the junction. It is no longer there and I have almost missed turning off. It is of no use on the slip road as it it can't be seen until too late. Also, no lighting makes for poor road visibility too.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report concerning signage on the M4 J8/9.

We apologise for the delay in responding. Our road inspector is satisfied that the current signage meets the requirements set out in the Highway Code, and our Smart Motorways team will not be changing the signage at this junction.

It is unclear if the sign you describe is one that has been stolen or illegally removed, or one that was removed by National Highways. If we have misinterpreted your query and this does regard a stolen or fallen sign, please resubmit a report with the precise location of the stolen sign.
