The fixed speed camera is set to the wrong speed
Reported via mobile in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 08:48, Sat 28 May 2022
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3557334.
Date of incident 28May2022 @ 07:50. Whilst travelling northbound on the A14, just after jct 37 the 40mph for roadworks comes to an end and speed is restored to the national speed limit (70mph) as signposted. Just after this is a fixed speed camera which was position when the road works extended further and was reduced to a 50mph limit. When I (and every other driver that I saw) went through this doing the correct speed (I was doing 69mph) the camera was activated and flashed my car.

Date 28th May 2022 @ 10.26. Also travelling along A14, towards Bury St Edmunds. After sign for 40 mph restriction ended and sign soon after showed speed limit restored to national speed limit of 70mph the fixed speed camera flashed multiple times as myself and other drivers began gaining speed. I was doing the correct speed as per the signs and was only approaching 50 mph as the camera flashed. The signs before the fixed camera clearly showed end of 40 mph restriction and the sign after showed national speed limit of 70mph.

Date 28th May 2022 @ 21:20. Also travelling eastbound along A14, towards Bury St Edmunds. After the 40 mph restriction ended and the national speed limit of 70mph begins the fixed speed camera flashed as myself and another driver began gaining speed. I was accelerating and approaching 56mph as the camera flashed. The car in the middle lane was moving quicker but still well under the national speed limit!! The signs are approximately 400m before the fixed camera and they definitely show the start of the national speed limit!!!

Drove along the westbound carriageway and watched the eastbound speed camera flashing at literally every car that drove past…. It was like a strobe light on steroids……

Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding faulty speed camera on the A14. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
The camera has been disabled and will soon be removed. There are signs up to indicate the camera is no longer in use and will remain in place until the camera has been removed.
Kind regards
National Highways

Happened again on 16 SEP 2022. Lane closures due to workmen and signs saying A1 closed and A14 closed and little warning of the 50mph sign. Cars being flashed.
