Large Bump at 11/49 milepost area RH lane

Reported via desktop in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 16:10, Thu 19 May 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3537440.

RH lane of northbound A12 in area of milepost 11/49 before Jct 15 has an enormous hump/bump which threw me out of my motorcycle saddle. Incredibly dangerous for those on 2 wheels.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding the large bump at 11/49 milepost. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

We have visited the area of concern and re-erected the 50 MPH advisory speed limit sign up.

This is still holding and driving over it at 50 MPH there are no issues. We will continue to monitor.

    Kind regards

  • This defect is still EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. Last night I came across this hump in the outside lane on my motorbike, and very nearly came off my bike. This needs fixing IMMEDIATELY. It is not visible in the dark, and no 50mph speed signs were in evidence. It is probably not an issue to cars that may straddle it. DON'T WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE IS KILLED!

  • This has still not been fixed and I'm amazed that a motorcyclist has not been killed. Dropping the speed limit by using a sign is a cheap and poor alternative to actually fixing the issue. This should be dealt with.
