Unusually long tailbacks
Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 08:09, Thu 12 May 2022
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3520015.
Something has happened to these lights in the last few days that is causing unusually long tailbacks. It's either ones on the M5 J9 Roundabout or those at the end of Shannon Way.
Since Monday 9th May queues have been worse (yes, worse than usual) and are forming a lot earlier. At 7.15 in the morning they are already back down the A438 to the Gulf garage heading into Tewkesbury. Before this date you could pretty much just drive up to the lights at Shannon Way with no issues.
The tailbacks onto the M5 (northbound exit slip) are also getting excessive and earlier.
This is also happening in the evening and daytime.
Please send someone out to check.

The traffic getting off J9 northbound is dangerous due to roadworks/ traffic lights. Tailbacks onto the motorway. It doesn't feel safe. I saw a near accident where someone tried to join the queue from lane 1 and was stuck out into fast moving traffic with drivers swerving around.
