Why is there a 40mph zone when there is absolutely no work ongoing on the road?!

Updates

  • Did someone leave the signs out after the overnight works? No obvious need at all for the speed restriction to be there all day today.

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about the speed restrictions on the A11.

The 40mph speed limit is in place while we continue our preparation works, ahead of the installation of contraflow for the scheme on 29 May 2022. This includes the installation of CCTV masts which are a verge-side hazard, and traffic is not allowed to travel at the national speed limit when such verge-side hazards are in place.
