Road surface breaking up

Reported via desktop in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 16:44, Thu 28 April 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3489735.

The road surface is in extremely bad condition. The surface has broken up. The worst areas are on Portsmouth Road South leading to the roundabout marked, on the bridge over the A3 and to the A3 southwards carriageway.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding poor road surfacing on Portsmouth Road South.

Our road inspector has visited the site and can confirm that National Highways' roads are not currently considered to be unsafe, though we are monitoring the site and are ready to action this when necessary.

However, we acknowledge that there are ongoing issues with Portsmouth Road running parallel to the A3, as well as the bridge deck. These are not National Highways roads, and as such we have no authority to repair the damage. We advise that you contact the local authority regarding issues on these roads. This is most likely to be Hampshire County Council. I have included a link to their website below. http://www.hants.gov.uk/

    Kind regards,

    National Highways
