Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3460776.
2 lanes closed for essential maintenance. Now been 3 weeks and not an engineer in sight. Why? Neighbouring boothferry Bridge also contraflow system. All at the same time. I am an hgv driver. Use this stretch of motorway every day and others. It seems to me its across the board. BAD PLANNING.

Thank you for contacting National Highways on the 15 April about the lane closure on the M62 Ouse bridge. We appreciate you taking the time to contact us about this issue.
We’re sorry to hear of the issues you are experiencing during these lane closures and appreciate that it’s frustrating when there are delays and no apparent reason for closures.
Following a recent visual inspection on the bridge, it was identified that the metal expansion joint in lane two had fractured. As a result it was necessary to close lane two over the Ouse bridge for safety. We are aware this has coincided with the Local Authority carrying our repairs on the Boothferry bridge so we are in contact with them to manage this.
We understand that this has caused some congestion, and have been tracking delays and journey times and utilising signing to advise road users.
We undertook a detailed inspection overnight Friday 1 April to identify the level and type of repair required. Following the inspection, it will be necessary to undertake more extensive works to safeguard the stability of the bridge joint. As a result we made the decision to put the M62 over the River Ouse into contraflow this will result in 2 lanes being available in either direction which will reduce current delays. We carried out this change to the traffic management overnight during the Easter period..
The joint itself is quite complex and does require specialist equipment and resources in order to carry out any subsequent repair work. We will be publishing updates via the press and on social media such as facebook and twitter regarding the plan going forward.
Thank you again for contacting us about this matter. . If there’s anything else, we can help you with please contact our customer contact centre. They’re available 24 hours a day by phone 0300 123 5000 or by email at info@nationalhighways.co.uk.
