There is heavy traffic as u have closed all but one lane going on to the bridge for no reason the signs say closed for works safety but there are no one working on the bridge witch is a joke I'm getting held up on my way home after a 12 hour shift and burning more fuel so if the problem is not sorted right away I will seek legal advise and send you a bill for fuel and time for me and my brother and since we are on 23 pound a hour so you're looking at a bill at 46 pound a hour I seriously suggest to get it sorted

Thank you for contacting National Highways about lane closures on the M62 Ouse bridge. We’re sorry to hear of the issues you are experiencing during these lane closures and appreciate that it’s frustrating when there are delays and no apparent reason for closures. Following a recent visual inspection on the bridge, it was identified that the metal expansion joint in lane two had fractured. As a result it was necessary to close lane two over the Ouse bridge for safety. We understand that this has caused some congestion and do apologise. We have been tracking delays and journey times and utilising signing to advise road users. We undertook a detailed inspection overnight Friday 1 April to identify the level and type of repair required. Following the inspection, it will be necessary to undertake more extensive works to safeguard the stability of the bridge joint. As a result we are currently planning to put the M62 over the River Ouse into contraflow that will result in 2 lanes being available in either direction which will reduce current delays. We are hoping this will be complete by this Friday morning. The joint itself is quite complex and does require specialist equipment and resources in order to carry out any subsequent repair work. We will be publishing updates via the press and on social media regarding the plan going forward. Thank you again for contacting us about this matter. We hope that our response has satisfactorily answered your query. If you require any further information please contact us via the National Highways Customer Contact Centre. They’re available 24 hours a day by phone 0300 123 5000 or by email at info@nationalhighways.co.uk.
