Hi there, there is a large cluster of pot holes, which impede on nearly half of the entire left lane. I would like to know the time frame between inspections on this road, and when the last inspection was carried out - the reason I ask this, is because this fracture in the surface has been progressively getting worse now over a matter of months - as its a "main road", I believe this should have been detected within 30 days of the issue occurring ?

Thank you for contacting National Highways about pot holes on this section of the A2.
We have a comprehensive maintenance and renewals programme across all our major roads and motorways, which helps to minimise the risks of potholes occurring. When potholes do occur, we repair them as soon as possible and any defects that pose a risk to safety are repaired within 24 hours.
We share your concerns for the condition of the road surface along this section of the A2. Having made enquiries, I’m able to advise that works has been raised to repair this location through our inspector to our maintenance service partner for the repairs to be completed within the next 28 days, if not sooner.
Recognising this issue, I can advise that a major scheme is currently under development which will involve resurfacing on the A2 between Lydden to Whitfield this financial year 2022/2023 and Whitfield to Guston with anticipated construction in this financial year 2022/2023.
Our inspector monitor the carriageway weekly when any defects are recorded and mitigated accordingly. Safety defects are attended to and made safe within 24 hours and any permanent repairs that are required are then carried out within 28 days. Service defects are less severe and are further categorised into high or low priority. Service high defects will aim to be repaired within 6 months, whereas service low defects are monitored and placed into future programme of works and bid for funding.
Kind regards
National Highways
