Road markings as you enter roadworks

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3403917.
As you enter the roadworks, the middle lane as two lots of lane markings. Old ones, which have been partially removed and new ones for the narrow lanes. The middle lane lines are confusing as no one seems to know which line to follow, I travel through these roadworks 5 days a week and this morning is the 4th time that has car has veered into the third lane from the second and nearly hit the off side of my car. You can see most of the cars in the middle lane veering off into the third lane. The old markings need to be remove completely.

Dear customer, Thank you for your Fix my Street report dated 21 March 2022 regarding the road markings within our traffic management on the M56. We recently installed narrow lanes in both directions between junction 11 and 12, to carry out work as part of the A533 Expressway Bridge replacement scheme.
I'm sorry to hear that you encountered difficulties whilst travelling on this route. When a road layout is changed to allow for traffic management, the road markings are temporarily removed or covered. We're aware that sometimes the original lines can still appear as faint or 'ghost' markings, particularly in bright sunshine.
In order to mitigate the impact, we ensure that a high grade non-reflective black paint and grit compound is used when covering up the original lines. This reduces the glare for road users. Unfortunately, there are still occasions when, due to the weather conditions, this solution is not always as effective as we'd hope. We remain committed to ensuring the safety of all road users and continue to look for innovative solutions to tackle this problem.
Our traffic safety officers, who drive the route daily to carry out regular checks, have not reported any concerns and are happy that traffic flows well through this section of the network. I have, however, raised your particular concerns with the team who have assured me that they will continue to monitor this section of the route closely going forward.
I hope this helps ease your concerns. Should you have any further questions, please contact the A533 Expressway Bridge project team directly at A533expresswaybridge@nationalhighways.co.uk or visit the webpage for up-to-date information.
