Traffic queues to leave M18

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 22:51, Wed 2 March 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3357630.

During rush hour traffic always queues on the slip road to leave m18. Drivers trying to exit here struggle to join the standing traffic to get off at this exit which is dangerous.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding M18 J3 queuing. We understand your concerns regarding this location. The roundabout is under the remit of Doncaster council and the motorway slip roads are under our remit so any works required have to be agreed and with no negative affects to either network. We have jointly been looking at this location and a study of this area has been carried out to identify any possible improvements, which I am pleased to advise has now been completed. One of the recommended outcomes of the study was to signalise the southbound exit slip road and adjacent section of circulatory carriageway, and to widen the overbridges to three lanes. With signing and lining improvements where required also.

The proposal is now with Doncaster Council to complete the design and construct. As such you would need to contact Doncaster Council Highways for any further progress updates on 01302 736000 as it is in their hands. We will also contact them to see if there is an update on your behalf.

    Kind regards,

    National Highways
