Fallen tree causing damage to my house

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3330790.

Last Friday around midday one of the trees between the edge of my property and the M3 motorway was blown over during the storm. Unfortunately it fell in to my back garden damaging the edge of the roof of my house and fence. It also blocked access to my back garden. The damage caused by the tree is in hand with my insurer. However, to get gain access to the garden by a builder to give me a quote has had to remove the tree. This was a matter of urgency. While the tree is now clear of my garden, it is still putting a lot a pressure on my fence and really needs to be cut back further. At the same time, another tree fell towards the motorway but this appears to have not caused any issues on the road. I initially got in touch with the Highways Agency who have informed me the land the fallen tree was located on falls within the land boundary of the M3 and therefore is the responsibility of National Highways. I hope you can help me as I'm concerned about other trees falling and causing further damage. As the majority of the trees are taller than my house, this is a possibility. Many thanks

    Our inspector visited the location and agrees that work is needed to ensure safety. A repair is planned, and the works should be completed within 24 hours.

  • We noticed that nothing appears to have been done regarding the fallen tree and we can hear creaking noises coming from the surrounding trees which are supporting the fallen one.

  • The previous comment appears to be related to a different tree. The one that I referred to in the original post that damaged my house roof has now been cleared.
