Recent hedge trimming has exposed a lot of litter
Reported via desktop in the Litter (NH) category anonymously at 20:57, Thu 17 February 2022
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3320413.
Recent work to reduce roadside vegetation has exposed a lot of roadside litter between this junction and the J/W A386 Tavistock. Evidence of recent trips along this stretch is that motorists are seeing this as an "invitation" to add more. It is an eyesore and needs clearing.

Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding litter on the A30.
Litter picking on the trunk road is the responsibility of the local authorities, however we appreciate that it isn’t easy for them to safely undertake this work alongside a high speed road. We write to local authorities in advance of any works to offer them the opportunity to enter our traffic management and litter pick but this isn’t always possible due to the amount of notice we are able to give them. Unfortunately they only have small teams available and require significant notice to programme this work in. We have to be flexible in booking space on the road to carry out any work and quite often our programmes change at short notice to accommodate any clashes with other work on the trunk road. In the case of the works at Okehampton we had to change the programme dates at short notice due to the availability of resources which meant that we couldn’t give the local authority sufficient notice to litter pick at the same time.
For information on litter picking here, you can contact Devon County Council via their website https://www.devon.gov.uk/ roadsandtransport/ report-a-problem/ .
Thank you,
National Highways
