Poor road sign/markings.

Reported via mobile in the Road markings (NH) category anonymously at 19:08, Tue 15 February 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3314205.

The roundabout has ahead 1st exit and right 2nd exit. Both the entry and exits are dual carriageway, with this many drivers approach in the left lane to turn right 2nd exit as the faded road markings suggest safe to do so. However, many drivers are using the right hand lane on approach to follow the dual carriageway ahead, which the road markings DO NOT suggest as being safe. On this roundabout you have drivers turning right from the left hand lane, with drivers following the road ahead in the right. You have traffic crossing paths on this roundabout everyday.

This is not safe and needs to be addressed before an accident, injury or death happens.

As this is a 50mph stretch of road signs prior to the roundabout or better road markings would make this safer and avoided the multiple near misses seen here.

They should also be visible on the road more times and further from the roundabout to provide drivers adequate time to get into the correct lane in good time for the roundabout as suggested by the Highway Code rule 184.

This issue has been present for absolutely too long. Everyday there are near misses with drivers either not knowing they are in the incorrect lane or just blindly ignoring because the markings are too late for planning to do be applied.
