Drains full of sludge

Reported via desktop in the Flooding/drainage (NH) category anonymously at 16:50, Sun 13 February 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3308677.

The drains that sit on the corner of School Lane and the A449 are full of mud and not draining properly; this area is prone to surface flooding. The drains in question sit on the southern side of where School Lane diverges away from the A449. The drains ARE NOT on a section of road managed by Staffordshire County Council. Also, a manhole cover situated slightly further into the carriageway is coming lose.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding blocked drains.

The responsibility for this issue, on this road, is that of the local authority to sweep the road as this is causing the problem with the drains.

Could we please ask that you contact them to resolve.

Contact details for local authorities can be found by using the search facility at: www.gov.uk/find-your-local-council.

    Thank you,

    National Highways

  • Could you please confirm that it is the local council's responsibility to unblock the drains (not sweep the road) on the A449?
