Severe ridges across the full width of the carriageway

Reported via desktop in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 15:20, Sun 6 February 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3293068.

Substructure of the road has heaved causing raised ridges across the full width of both coast bound carriageways. These are getting worse and when driven over at any speed in excess of 60mph causes the suspension on car to bottom out. I recently witnessed a motorcycle hitting one and losing control before somehow recovering control. If these are not dealt with soon there will be an accident. I notice that other people have reported this fault but no action has been taken by National Highways and the reports are now shown as 'Closed'. These 'speed bumps' have been progressively getting worse over the last few years so need to be rectified.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about road surface on the A2 coast-bound carriageway.

We’re currently aware of issue and is currently being monitored by our safety team since August 2021.

We’re currently designing suitable works to resurface this stretch of the A2 to be included in this year scheme but at present I unable to provide a date for these works,

    Kind regards
