Traffic light sequence causing major delays

Reported via mobile in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 07:14, Wed 2 February 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3283667.

The traffic lights on Hedon Road do not stay on green for enough time, and it is a main road. It seems the traffic lights from / to the docks stay on green longer than the lights to carry on down Hedon road. Only three-four cars are getting through that are going down Hedon road, and this is causing major delays. Has the sequence changed recently?

  • Hi Since Tuesday 1st Feb the traffic ligthts eastbound at the northern gateway roundabout are only green for about six seconds at 5.45 am . This is a main gateway for the ferry traffic and large factory employers. This is causing traffic jams back to the south coates round about when for the past four years I have been travelling the route without any problems. Thanks

  • Issue still hasn't been resolved. Surely, this day and age with modern technology it should be repaired by now!

  • As of 07.10, Tuesday 8th February situation still the same. Appears to be happening between 05.00hrs-08.00hrs. Surely it doesn't take over a week to address this!

  • This is still causing issues. at 06:30, queues are back to Hull Prison when travelling East bound. The traffic lights are only green for 7 seconds at a time, then go red for 25 seconds. Thsi is causing issues at the prison roundabout, southcoats lane and old Hedon road as a result of traffic backing up. At 06:30, it takes 10 minutes to pass these lights when the traffic is normally free flowing.

  • Hi

There is still a problem here. This morning at approx 0650 the lights were still changing from green to red quickly. This caused a tailback all the way back to roger millwood way.
